From Adversity to Achievement: My Journey in Dentistry and Beyond.
DR MUHAMMAD SARMAD MOHYUDDIN AKA MADDY
After completing my A-levels, I discovered a deep love for dentistry. When I secured admission to a dental university in Islamabad, Pakistan, I knew this was the path for me. From day one, I dedicated myself fully to my studies. I immersed myself in the world of dentistry, consistently putting in my best efforts. This commitment paid off. Throughout my four years of undergrad, I earned a GPA of 3.93, achieving consistently high marks. In 2020-21, I proudly graduated with my BDS degree.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided not to limit myself to just dentistry. I wanted to grow in other areas too. I took that time to learn digital marketing, Facebook ads, website development, graphic design, and freelancing. I dedicated the year 2020 to mastering these skills alongside my dental studies.
After earning my degree, I set my sights on practicing dentistry in the U.S., a dream that required significant effort and determination. I knew that getting into a U.S. dental school wasn’t easy. The U.S. doesn’t recognize foreign dental degrees as equivalent, so I needed to pursue a DDS program. This meant an additional two to three years of study. Undeterred, I took the necessary steps. In 2022, I passed the INBDE National Boards Exam. In 2023, I completed my TOEFL exam, scoring a 93. By 2024, I had earned my Dental Registration License (RDA) and passed the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exam. Alongside these achievements, I completed essential certifications like BLS/CPR and AIDS training.
Currently, I’m working as a dental assistant in the United States, gaining valuable experience while waiting to get into a DDS program or residency. I’ve found joy in this role, balancing my work in the dental field with my continued involvement in digital marketing freelancing. Dentistry remains my passion, and I’m excited to see where this journey will take me.
This is who I am now—a man who faced countless doubts and challenges but never lost faith in himself.
